How the spawn works
Fish reproduce on March 1, April 1, May 1 and at no other time. Each spawn adds 40% of the stock standing at that moment, rounded up, and stops at the node's capacity. Fishing below your reserve does not just cost you those fish. It cuts every spawn that follows.
Hunting
How the herd regrows
A node rolls for a new animal every 4–5 days days on regular ground and every 3 days days on a rich node. Capacity gives the quality away, because 16–18 and 26–28 do not overlap. Teeming then gives each roll a chance equal to your woodland cover of producing a second animal.
Foraging
How forage grows
A deposit gains about a ninth of its capacity every 10 days across a 180-day season. Growth is a share of capacity rather than a flat amount, so a full deposit wastes every tick until you draw it down. The Origin selector above applies here too: Vogtland doubles forage capacity.
Why a reserve beats a hard floor
Every one of these deposits grows in proportion to what is standing in it. Strip a pond to ten fish and the spring spawn hands back four. Leave a hundred and it hands back forty.
The worker limit on the hut is how you set that reserve. No other control on a gathering building matters as much, and most players never touch it.
Fish are the sharpest case
Three spawns, all in spring, and nothing between May and the following March. A pond fished flat in February has missed its year. Set the limit before winter, not after.
Drought is the other risk. A dry summer can empty a carp pond regardless of your reserve (#142), and eels are not affected by it. A region that keeps flooding or drying is a region to stock eels in.
Where these models come from
The spawn rate, the roll intervals, the catch rate of 13.3 fish a spot a month and the 80 hunts a camp lands in a year were all measured in game by Chuckw44. He states his method: about 146 fish a month from 11 spots, about 80 from 6. We have not measured any of it, and every card above says community-tested rather than claiming otherwise.
